Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

PhishGuard ("the extension") is an anti-phishing tool that analyzes web pages before they load in your browser. This policy explains exactly what data it processes, where that data goes, and what it stores.

What the extension processes

When you navigate to a site that is not already trusted or on the built-in list of well-known domains, the extension fetches that page in the background and processes:

This data is used only to assess whether the page is a phishing, keylogging, or data-theft threat.

Data sent to third parties

To perform the analysis, the extension sends the page content described above to a third-party AI provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, or DeepSeek, depending on configuration. The request is made directly from the extension to that provider's API over HTTPS.

Your use of those providers is governed by their respective privacy policies:

The extension does not send your data to any other server, and does not include your browser cookies or login session when it fetches a page for analysis.

What is stored, and where

The following are stored locally on your device using the browser's extension storage, and are never uploaded by the extension:

You can clear this at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage.

What is NOT collected

Data retention

The extension itself does not retain analyzed page content after a check completes. Retention of API request data is determined by the AI provider's policy linked above.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
